Mother's Day Spiritual Bouquet envelopes are available at both of our parishes so that you may register your mothers, grandmothers, godmothers, and mothers-in-law to be prayed for at both altars of our parish, starting Sun., May 12th. For those who contribute to our parish with envelopes, we will accept those Mother's Day envelopes too on May 12th because all envelopes will be placed on either altar for several days after May 12th with all names being remembered, whether living or deceased. If a check is used for your offering, kindly make the check out to Presentation-Sacred Heart Parish. Thanks!
The joy of First Holy Communion being received by two parish children at the Extraordinary Form Mass on Sunday, April 28th spilled over into a lively Fellowship Hour downstairs after Mass. Praise to God and thanks to the selfless parishioners who helped restore the Fellowship Hour after the 11:30 a.m. Mass one Sunday per month. Anyone who attends Mass at our parish and who wishes to cooperate with this worthwhile project may contact Maria Silva at 845/399-5053 or Cathie Parrinello at 845/706-5002.
Our parish features the 20 Week Club, which is our semiannual sweepstakes for 20 weeks at a time to raise needed funds for our parish. On May 16th, we will draw the name of our first winner of the $50 cash prize. After 19 more weekly drawings, far more lucrative grand prizes become available. Could you become one of these winners? FIND OUT and help our parish by buying a ticket! Call Elaine Longendyke at (914) 466-0846 or email her at [email protected] to reserve your ticket(s) or with your questions.
Heartfelt thanks to our parishioners JOHN AFFRONTI and CHESTER VAN WEGENEN for their yeoman work in refurbishing the cross at St. Leo's Hall which illuminates nocturnal darkness and cloudy days whilst facing the Hudson River. May the lighted cross announce that CHRIST is available at our parish to all who pass by the Hudson River as well as along Father Kelley Drive and the streets of Port Ewen near the river. Truly at our parish, Christ is the Light of the World! (photo by Fr. Arthur Rojas)
Fr. Rojas, our pastor, was most pleased to give young Grayson his First Holy Communion at Sacred Heart Church at the Vigil Mass on Saturday, April 13th. The boy usually attends the Mass with his grandmother, Mrs. Michelle Metelski, who was allowed by our pastor to form her grandson for the sacraments of Confession and the Eucharist, relying on her decades of service to our parish as the former Coordinator of Religious Education. We are grateful for the picture taken after the Mass with Grayson's proud family.
As parishioners of one of the pre-eminent pro-life parishes in Ulster County, let's set aside an hour, even a half-hour, to accompany Our Eucharistic Lord at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 1250 State Route 32, Plattekill in these hours today, tonight, and tomorrow morning until 8 a.m. This is the third year in a row that the Ulster Deanery Respect Life Committee has tied Eucharistic adoration to the pro-life cause, in this case, reparation for the legalization of abortion in New York on April 11, 1970. No preregistration is needed!
In addition to Mass in the Extraordinary Form on Sundays at 11:30 a.m. at our parish, we aim every month to offer Mass in the Ancient Use a number of weekdays as well. Therefore, in April at Sacred Heart Church Holy Mass in the Extraordinary Form will be offered at 11:30 a.m. - preceded by confessions from 10:45 to 11:15 a.m. - on Monday, April 8th (Feast of the Annunciation) and Thursday, April 25th (Feast of St. Mark, Evangelist). Families and individuals of good will are welcome. Please spread the word!
