With gratitude to God, the intercession of Our Lady of the Hudson, the judgment of H.E. Timothy Cardinal Dolan, Metropolitan Archbishop of New York, and the prayers of parishioners and others of good will, Fr. Rojas was gratified to receive the letter (see picture) promoting him from Administrator to Pastor of our parish, effective July 1st. Our parish aims to host the Mass of Installation of the second pastor of our combined Presentation-Sacred Heart Parish in September. Please stay tuned for more information.
Thanks to our Martha & Mary Ladies, the women's sodality at Sacred Heart Church, all three of our women's sodalities (e.g. Martha & Mary Ladies, Women's Society at P.B.V.M., and the Fellowship Ladies from the 11:30 a.m. Sunday Mass) gathered for fun and food at Freer Park on Monday, June 19. A few males also enjoyed a good time, namely Fr. Rojas, who will become our pastor on July 1st, Filadelfo Silva (husband of Maria), and their son Jacob. Fr. Rojas hopes that a men's event may be held in future.
As we proceed with our co-patronal feast at both churches today (June 16 - Most Sacred Heart of Jesus), we invite ALL people of good will to join us tomorrow, June 17 at Sacred Heart Church, 1055 Broadway, Esopus, from 3:15 to 4:15 p.m. for a HOLY HOUR in reparation for the blasphemy and mockery of the Catholic faith at Los Angeles by the "Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence," abetted by the Los Angeles Dodgers and exalted by the California legislature. As we Catholics arise in defense of our faith, let us pray first!
On June 24, 2022, with its holding in "Dobbs v. Jackson," the U.S. Supreme Court overruled the "Roe v. Wade" decision that imposed abortion across America and returned the issue of abortion to the states. While "Dobbs" did not go far as we would have preferred to protect preborn children, nonetheless the Supreme Court rebuked the abortion industry and the Culture of Death. This year, please join us on Sat., June 24 for a Mass of Thanksgiving at 11:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart. Confessions: 10:45-11:15 a.m.
On Wed., June 7, clerics, catechists, and staff of our Rel. Ed. and R.C.I.C. programs broke bread and received heartfelt thanks from Fr. Rojas for their labor of love for God's little ones entrusted to us by their parents over the catechetical year. Given the winding down of our program and future referral to our neighboring parish, Immaculate Conception, for the religious education of our children, we made sure to give Mrs. Metelski a memento in gratitude for her decades of service. Please join us for the celebration of the Feast of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, which is the patron of Sacred Heart Church and thus the co-patronal feast of our parish. In addition to the usual Mass at Presentation on Fridays at 8 a.m., Holy Mass will be offered at Sacred Heart Church as follows: 11:30 a.m. in the Extraordinary Form (confessions at 10:45 and a light reception after Mass) and 6:30 p.m. in the Ordinary Form with a light reception after Mass, this one thanks to the Martha and Mary Ladies.
