About 100 persons, young and old, listened to Fr. Milan Kasperek, the Byzantine Catholic priest who was our presenter and confessor, at Sacred Heart Church on March 22 regarding the saints and venerated first-class relics of Padre Pio, St. Sharbel, and Bl. Peter Paul Gojdich, et al. The next night, scores of people went to Presentation for Fr. Kasperek's "Introduction to Byzantine Spirituality and Lent." In total, Fr. Kasperek heard 32 confessions in the Byzantine style. Our Lent was enriched by these experiences!
In addition to the lovely floral arrangements by Marilou Abramshe and the handmade rose altar cloth by Catherine Parrinello at Sacred Heart (as shown in the picture) and the exquisite floral arrangement by Cecilia Olivares at Presentation, the rose color draping the altars and the liturgical vestments for Laetare Sunday ("Laetare" is Latin for "rejoice") provided a worthy background at Sacred Heart for the baptism of MATHEW JACOB DI IORIO after the 11:30 a.m. Mass. Congratulations to the Di Iorio family!
We are pleased to feature Rev. Fr. MILAN KASPEREK, a priest of one of the Byzantine Catholic eparchies in America (Eastern dioceses in communion with Rome), as our presenter and confessor. He will present a conference at each of our churches, including questions and answers, and be available for confessions after each conference. The conference on 3/22 is required Family Catechesis for each Rel. Ed. student and at least one of his parents. Full details are available by reading the full article (please click to read).
Babies James and Clara Saalweachter were baptized on Sunday, March 5 at Sacred Heart Church after the 11:30 a.m. Mass. Dozens of parishioners joined John and Mary Saalweachter, the grateful parents of our new brethren in Christ, at the baptisms and then the churching of Mary. A joyful lunch followed for all, thanks to Mr. & Mrs. Saalweachter, at the Fr. Grohe Parish Hall. Next baptism at Sacred Heart: Mar. 19 after the 11:30 a.m. Mass (Mathew Di Iorio). All Mass-goers are welcome to stay for the blessed event!
